Club History

The club played its first game back in 2008 at Gladeswood reserve and won its very first game, only loosing our first game in the grand final at Ringwood in 08. The founding members of that year were as follows.

President: Rob Jones.
Secretary: Kirstyn Jones.
Treasurer: Sharyn Chapman.
Eva Athanasopoulos. John Blackburn, Dion Collinson. Anthony Duffin. Andrew Gannon. Rob Gannon, Mark Gottschling, club coach. Cameron Head. Adam Hewitt. Brad Palmer. Luke Palmer. Steve Ryan. Chris Springett. Scorer, Gayle Quinn. Scorer, Julie Wilton. Umpire, Ken Maxfield.

It didn’t take long to realise that we had created something special. That first year we had a lot of firsts. Our first pitch thrown by Adam Hewitt,Our first home run hit by Steve Ryan, our first hit by pitch was probably Andrew Gannon (he gets hit a lot) our first awards also. Club MVP, Adam Hewitt. Home run hero, Cameron Head And of course the best clubman award which was later renamed to the Sharyn Chapman award. In 2018 we founded our first women’s team playing in the summer of 2018-19. This team mirrored the first ever team also winning their way through the first season only to lose their first game in the grand final.

The women even had their first home run in the inaugural season, hit by Mo Yoshida. Our founding players were as follows. Mel Batty. Annette Curnow. Penny Donnelly. Eva Gottschling. Robyn Langford. Elly Leeson. Grace Raszewski. Jenelle Stafilis. Naomi Stevenson. Cori van den Hoek. Lara Watson. Mo Yoshida. Ralph Watson, scorer. Assistant coaches Brian Gagle. Bryant Parsons. Steve Ryan. Greg Tinkler. Head coach, Mark Gottschling. We now look forward to the future and a change of scenery as we relocate our home ground to the Police Paddocks on Brady Rd. This new ground will provide us with room to grow and expand our Warrior family.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][stm_results_table_ajax title=”Latest Match Results” count=”3″][stm_latest_news_most_styles number_columns=”2″ number=”2″ post_categories=”top-stories, club-news” css=”.vc_custom_1553856007597{margin-top: 50px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The South East Warriors Baseball Club (formerly Wheelers Hill) was started in the winter of 2008 by a bunch of friends who just wanted to play ball with their mates. We went from one team to two teams and even three at some stages through our journey.

In 2018 we started a new chapter with our first women’s team and our first time in the Summer competition. On 6 October 2018 it was our women’s team’s first time on the diamond and their first win as a club against Berwick (16-8).

In the 2020/2021 VSBL competition our women’s team won their first Division 3 (East) championship against Moorabbin (10-0).
